At Toro Tapas, we are passionate about bringing the vibrant flavours of Spain to the beautiful coastal town of Bude. I'm Jay, the owner and head chef, and my culinary journey has taken me from working in some of London’s most acclaimed kitchens—including those in Park Lane and other renowned restaurants—where I refined my skills and developed a deep appreciation for diverse culinary traditions. My adventures continued through Spain, where I was inspired by the lively tapas bars and authentic flavours that define our menu today. Each dish at Toro Tapas is crafted with passion and authenticity, reflecting the diverse culinary heritage I have embraced throughout my career.

 

After years of honing my craft in Spain, Germany, Ireland, and the Canary Islands, I returned to Bude to embrace my love for tapas. For nearly a decade, I was head chef at The Bank, a beloved local tapas restaurant, where during my time we were honoured to receive awards such as being named one of the Top 100 Restaurants in the UK by OpenTable.
 

With Toro Tapas, my vision is to create a warm, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy the essence of Spanish dining. Our menu features an array of traditional and innovative tapas dishes, crafted with the finest ingredients and a touch of creativity.
